#129: Howards End, 1992
In early twentieth century England, an Edwardian wedding would take place early in the day, in which the celebration would be followed by a luxurious “wedding breakfast”.
A countryside wedding breakfast would represent a midday reception, a period of celebration, and decadent consumption prior to the newlywed’s departure. The event is not a classic breakfast, but a luxurious reception of canapes, classic roast, fruit-adorned cake, petit fours, and boundless champagne. It follows a high society wedding within a rural landscape that captures a quiet, country-side luxury.
It’s an event that encapsulates rural seclusion while expressing societal exclusivity, revealing that even in nature, the perception of class remains at the forefront, and the presence of any outsiders will never go unnoticed.
